Sportsmanship
Coaches like Petrino, have had to take more than their fair share of barbs from the media and opposing fans claiming that they run up the score at every opportunity. A few things happened over the weekend that should be remembered the next time someone wants to go in this direction.
1. 38-3 and 9:54 in the 3rd quarter.
For all those that say that starters should sit out the second half of blowouts, remember this. Comebacks can, AND DO, happen. Maybe you stop faking punts and going onside to get the ball back when you are up a few TDs but you NEVER take the foot of the gas. NEVER.
2. Spiking the ball down 15 with less than 20 seconds left.
Syracuse did it. If its ok for the team that is losing to push to the final whistle, why cant the team that is winning? Do you think the Cards wanted to be at full speed on that last play? The game was over but Syracuse still played hard. I respect that but I expect them to remember this when they are down 35 next year at the big slice and Brohm is padding the Heisman stats.
Play to the final gun.
